A new partnership between GS1 Italy and Freight Leaders Council for increasingly sustainable logistics

With practical tools: the environmental footprint measurement tool Ecologistico2 is available free of charge to companies in the Lean & Green programme, the FLC award granted to those who reduce carbon dioxide emissions

A new partnership has been established between GS1 Italy and Freight Leaders Council to promote environmental sustainability in logistics, an issue of key importance for the consumer goods industry and for the entire country.

GS1 Italy will make Ecologistico2 – its environmental footprint measurement tool developed by the association ECR Italy – available free of charge to companies participating in the Lean & Green programme, the sustainable logistics award granted by Freight Leaders Council, which comprises Italy’s leading logistics operators.

With this partnership, GS1 Italy and Freight Leaders Council would like to offer companies a new opportunity to learn how to measure CO2 emissions and organise efficient emission reduction plans aimed at achieving significant economic savings.

“Ecologistico2 and Lean & Green are two innovative and extremely useful tools that GS1 Italy and the Freight Leaders Council use to help companies committed to supply chain sustainability, guiding them through the process of analysing, measuring and improving their emissions in the logistics sector,” commented Bruno Aceto, CEO of GS1 Italy.

“In our Paper #25 on transport and logistics sustainability,” stated Antonio Malvestio, Chairman of the Freight Leaders Council, “we pointed out that there is the option to show the calculation of emissions on invoices. This tool would help companies become aware of their environmental footprint and it will provide the basis for improvement. Ecologistico2 is the ideal tool to accurately measure the greenhouse gas produced by transport.”
